Welcome to the Somerset Assessment Group Website

  

The Assessment Group comprises representatives from EDS, including advisers or consultants with experience within the Foundation Stage, KS1 and KS2, KS3, KS4 and post 16; SEN; PMIT and eLIM.
 
The Group is responsible for the following: 
  • Ensuring that all statutory assessment requirements for the local authority are met.
  • Ensuring that schools are aware of their statutory requirements and the time line for meeting these.
  • Maintaining links with the National Assessment Agency (NAA), Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA), the Association for Achievement and Improvement through Assessment (AAIA).
  • Working with Primary and Secondary School Improvement Advisers and Consultants to:

 - identify schools where assessment practice requires improvement.

 - provide focussed support through appropriate members of the assessment team and other leading professionals.
 
  • Identifing and providing appropriate training opportunities in order to ensure schools:
-  are clear about what assessment data is available to them,
-  know how to interpret these data and
-  know how to use these data as part of school self-evaluation.
 
  • Ensuring various groups within the Children and Young People’s Directorate, including EDS, eLIM, IST and SEN are fully aware of national and local assessment issues.
