MAISEY (Multi Agency Intervention and Support in Early Years) meetings Letter and Consent Form - Autumn 2011

___________________________________________________

Who will be at the meeting?

The Multi-Agency Intervention and Support Team will have representatives from many services and may include:

A Health Visitor

A Speech anf Language Therapist

An Occupational Therapist

A Physiotherapist

A Foundation Stage Adviser

An Educational Psychologist

An Area SENCo

A Senior Portage Home Visitor

An Advisory teacher from the Sensory, and Medical Support team

A Social Care Representative

A Paediatrician

A Casework Officer from County Hall

The meeting will generally be chaired by a member of the Education Services.

What are the meetings for?

In Somerset there are many services available to children from birth to five years with Special Educational Needs.

The role of MAISEY meetings is to make sure that all the different agencies are brought together to look at your child's needs and to ensure that the services and provision are looked at together

The progress of individual children will be discussed in separate meetings to which parents will be invited.

What will be discussed?

The topics discussed will include:

  • Identying children who may need extra help. The aim is that support will be provided within a term of the need being identified.
  • Making sure we are all aware of the different services your child requires.
  • Identication of the lead person for the school entry plan and to monitor children's transition into preschool and into school settings.

Many different children are discussed and so it is not possible for parents to be present. We will only discuss your child with your agreement and give you feedback that would support the next steps.
