What happens if I search for more than one thing at a time?

If you search by making entries in more than one box on the search form, the result is the set of schools that meet ALL your requirements. For example, you can specify:
  • Schools with TA in the postcode and
  • Schools which include the age range of 5-8
and you will be shown a list of schools that meet BOTH requirements.

General search characteristics
  • Information entered into the search form is not case-specific.
  • Wildcards – if you enter only part of the required information - e.g. if you just type in Curry, it will bring back Curry Rivel and Curry Mallet results, i.e. Curry and anything which comes before it and after it.
  • Spaces – if your search doesn’t return what you expected without spaces, then add a space or vice-versa. For example, in the establishment name field, if you type in Courtfields you will get no results. However, if you type in Court fields, you will get a result.
  • Apostrophes – if your search doesn’t return what you expected without an apostrophe, then add an apostrophe, or vice-versa. For example, in the establishment name field, if you type in St Cuthberts you will get no results. However, if you type in St Cuthbert’s, you will get a result.
Specific search characteristics
  • Address field – searches for everything in the first line address and/or the second line address and/or the third line address. For example, if the school details are as follows:

Curry Rivel CofE VC Primary School
    Church Street
    Curry Rivel
    Langport

and you type Curry Rivel into the address line, you will get the above schools’ details back. You will also get details back if you type in Church Street.

Note: some schools have only a first line address, some have a second line and no third, some have a third line address and no second etc but all have a postal town and a postcode.
  • Age ranges:

Search within the range (e.g. min=4 and max=11) - this will bring back all schools within this range, i.e. 4-7, 4-9, 4-11, 7-11.
      or
Search with an exact range (e.g. min=4 and max=11) and tick the 'Exact' checkbox - this will bring back all schools which have an age range of 4-11 only.
