Developing Web Pages
|
Where
can I use web pages ?
Developing a resource by creating a series of web pages means this can
be used on a local hard disk just for your classroom,
shared over a school network or used as part of your school web site.
How do I create the
pages?
You do not need special software. Multimedia
Textease, Word and /or Publisher can
be used to develop and save web pages.
For more professional creation software
such as Front Page2000 or Dreamweaver
are recommended.
Another alternative is to use the web-based software
used by a company such as ik.com (see below)
How do I start finding
out more?
The ICT Curriculum course
'Designing
Web Pages for Beginners' is
a starting point to develop the necessary skills using standard Curriculum
software. Check out the details on the 'ICT Courses'
page.
What if I do want
to create a school web site?
The same information applies.
Somerset schools may have their web sites hosted at County Hall and be available
to the World!
To check the web address of your school
go to http://schools.somerset.gov.uk
and look down the list.
Interested? To
download instructions on how to go about this (once you have created the web
site) go to the 'Further
Help' tab on the
Download Help section
of this site.
I am not that confident
and am a busy teacher so I want a method that is quick and fairly straightforward,
what should I consider?
The Curriculum Team offer ICT courses in developing
a site using the hosting of a commercial company called ik.com. This is a
template-based website design which is created and edited on-line. It may
suit those schools who want a web presence but do not wish to spent time on
developing a wide variety of pages. See the ICT Course
listed "ik.com Schools website training" or
ring or email one of the Curriculum Team
